Dr. Reiner Ponschab
Dr. Ponschab is one of the founding partners of our Munich office, where he served as a partner from 1980. Since his retirement from partnership in 2005, he has continued to work at the Munich office as Of Counsel. For many years, his focus has been on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He is regarded as one of the pioneers of commercial mediation in Germany and has specialized in this field.
In this context, he has conducted numerous high-profile commercial mediations both in Germany and abroad. Notably, he led the widely reported 2012/2013 mediation concerning the interest rate SWAP between the City of Linz and the Austrian bank BAWAG (with a dispute value exceeding €400 million).
In addition to his work as a commercial mediator, Dr. Ponschab teaches extensively in the areas of legal communication, negotiation, and commercial mediation. He serves as a lecturer at Biberach University of Applied Sciences, the Universities of Bielefeld and Sofia (Bulgaria), and the Chinese University of Political Science and Law in Beijing (China). He is also a trainer in commercial mediation certification programs for the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Munich and Koblenz, and a negotiation trainer for numerous German companies.
Dr. Ponschab has published numerous books and articles on the subject of ADR.
